Wow, it’s been so long since I posted anything! Frankly it’s because I haven’t thought of much to say. I’ll try to give a general update though.
Our animals are good. Gracie, our calf is getting very large and is so cute! Meg, her mother, is cranky for no apparent reason other than the fact that it’s winter and she doesn’t have grass to eat. Maybe also the fact that she is a cow. ha. The chickens are good, venturing out because it’s been warmer. the cat and dog are well. The dog was outside last night and I heard her yelp. Later on, we noticed that she has a cut on her leg, but she can reach it with her tongue, so she’ll be fine.
A few days ago we watched Star Wars: A New Hope. It was my first time seeing any Star Wars. I liked it. The first part to that particular one was rather dull, but the second part was much better.
Been reading a lot.

Well, Happy Holidays!
Aah. I love fall! The colors here are great…not peak yet, but close. I hope you all are enjoying fall as much as me!
Got rid of a chicken today. I didn’t really want to, but we don’t have enough room in our coop for all our birds, so I gave her to a friend.
Doing some good writing lately. 🙂
Gracie is acting more and more like a goat. She lives with her mom and two goats, so you can kind of see why. We are hoping to sell her soon-ish. Preferably to someone with a small farm who wants her for something like what we do. Also preferably close by, so we can visit her.
I have been so busy lately!! Everyone is good, the calf, Gracie, is getting so big! The chicks should be called teenagers now. Ha! I wish there was a word for that …chickagers? Or teenchicks?
Well, anyway, I’ve seen 24 Trump signs, 7 Hillary signs and two Bernie signs. My dad told me that Hillary isn’t focusing on yard signs this year. She’s trying to reach out to people instead.
On our way to church a few weeks ago, we saw this sign hanging in someone’s yard from two trees it said “For the first time in 40 years I will not vote. There is no lesser of two evils.” My mom wants one. I have no comment.
Well, we are making stir fry for dinner, and I need to help my dad… My mom is loading the kiln for a bisque firing, tomorrow. He needs some assistance… 🙂
Yesterday one of our chickens, Jade, died.
They’re redoing our road, so it’s super dusty. Poor vegetables in the garden. And poor goats and cows and chickens!!
My mom is making maple frozen yogurt. Yum yum!! Except it’s really salty.
Life is dull. Not really. 😉 Yesterday we got a bunch of organic blueberries, and they are sooooo good!! I love blueberries.
Only one year and four months until I get my braces off. Yahoo. (not). I know some people whose teeth were more crooked than mine and they only have to have their braces on for six months!! No fair!
We got some old episodes of Gidget on DVD from the library and have watched two so far. They are really stereotypical, but that’s what the 60’s were like, so I don’t mind to much. I love them though. 🙂 I want all the clothing, that’s for sure.
We also got some I Love Lucy episodes, but haven’t watched them yet.
Happy early 4th of July!
Got up and milked Meg and the goats this morning. I wanted to stay up, but was to tired, so I went back to bed.
It’s a lovely day. In the sun it’s warm, and in the shade, it’s nice and cool. There’s a nice breeze and a few clouds in the sky. It’s gorgeous.
Tonight if our neighbors aren’t to loud we’re going to stay home from the fireworks and have a bonfire and S’mores. We use homemade marshmallows, since I’m allergic to artificial colors and flavors. They are so good! You should try making them. It’s not to hard, though it is definitely messy. ;-P
So, I feel the need to explain about the picture I posted yesterday.
Runner is our 8 year old brood hen. She has been for 7 years, that’s 6 broods, ranging anywhere from one chick to five. All at the same time! It is an amazing feat! This year, since she’s getting so old, we decided to let out second oldest hen, Hawk, brood as well as Runner.
Hawk hatched two chicks, Tomato (Mato) and Margret (or Margie) and Runner hatched five, Rhea Silvia, Dandelion (Dandy), Hazel (Zelly), Pecan (Connie) and Jane. Runner’s hatched 10 days before Hawk’s. They just started partnering. Going around together and such. The chicks now have two mamas! Runner is starting to let Hawk have most of the mothering. While Runner goes and takes a break.
It is all super cute and sweet.
So there is the story of the two mamas.
I can’t believe that it’s almost July!! Wow!
June is a busy month. As you can probably tell by how recent my posts are. Now we’re settling in to stay home for the summer.
All our tiger lilies are in bloom, which is wonderful. Gracie is so giant! She comes almost to my waist and is getting really strong. The chicks are so big! I’ve determined that 3 or 4 are boys, so that means 3 or 4 girls. Hopefully 4 girls.
Viola is going well. On Thursday we got back from viola camp, which was fun, though quite tiring. I’m learning a lot, which is great. In Piano, I am starting to realize what I can stylistically do, to make a piece sound more mine. If you know what I mean.
Today it is hot and VERY humid. Ack.
So that is what’s going on here.
I hope your lives are full of blessings too. 🙂
So, we’ve been getting up around 5:30am to milk Meg. All night Gracie is put in small pen in the barn, so she won’t eat all the milk, then we milk Meg and let Gracie out. Sometimes my dad gets up, sometimes I get up. It’s really early, so I go back to bed for a bit. It is nice to get up that early, but it’s kind of too early, Hopefully we can push it back a bit so we don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn.
We had our music festival last weekend, which was fun and exhausting. The kids played a great game of tag, which was so great!! I love tag.
It is definitely true that “absence makes the heart grow fonder”. Since the festival ended, I haven’t wanted to leave home at all. I’ve taken pleasure in everything. Even weeding the onion row today, was so satisfying. Milking so early is also great.
This Sunday we are leaving to go to strings camp. I am excited, but also nervous, since I haven’t been in 3 years. I’m also nervous that we will get lost on the way. We’ve been 6 times before, but still. I’m also sad that we’ll have t be away from home. 😦
The chicks are giant. So is Gracie. Time goes so fast!
I read ‘An Acceptable Time’, which I’ve never read before. I LOVED it. I like physics, just not the really mathematical kind.
I’m writing a lot lately. I’ve been liking writing almost more than drawing. Viola is going good. I’m kind of tired of it, I kind of want to take break, oh well.
I need to wrap up, since we’re about to eat dinner. Goodbye!

Oh my goodness! It is June already! The new year is flying away! NOOOOOOO!!!! Oh well. That’s how it goes. I am grateful for so much.
What re you grateful for? Even little things like the leaky faucet, count. Really think about it. You have more things than you think.
